Recycle Away Specializes in Custom Recycling Containers for Local Governments.
Recycle Away specializes in designing attractive public-space recycling containers for local governments. We are working with numerous government agencies to site recycling containers in a variety of community settings, including parks, downtowns, government buildings, schools and event centers. Recycle Away's recycling experts regularly work closely with municipalities to create recycling containers customized to blend perfectly with the community's architecture, using colors and signage used to inform local residents of best recycling practices.
Here are a few examples of work we have done with municipalities:
City of Albany, New York
The city of Albany, New York, worked closely with Recycle Away to design custom recycling stations suitable for recycling in public spaces in some the city's most visited areas, including the sprawling Washington Park with its annual Tulip Festival, many pedestrian paths and historic monuments. The city Recycling and Public Works staff were seeking a recycling station that was durable enough to be placed year-round in an outdoor environment yet also be attractive. The city of Albany recently adopted a single-stream recycling program, and wanted the new recycling container to feature the city's new single-stream recycling logo. In close collaboration with city staff, Recycle Away designed a two-stream recycling container from our Sustainability Series, encompassing an attractive color combination that was also clearly marked for both recycling and waste. As an added benefit, the entire recycling station is manufactured from high-grade plastic lumber manufactured from recycled milk jugs.

City of Little Rock, Arkansas

The City of Little Rock received a grant to purchase recycling containers for public spaces throughout their government buildings, including City Hall. Recycle Away provided the city's recycling staff with initial samples of various containers for a hands-on presentation to the recycling committee. The city chose a custom station based on the Kaleidoscope recycling container. The city of Little Rock has a single-stream recycling program where cans, bottles and paper are commingled together. To collect this mixed recyclables stream, the city is using a recycling container lid with a restricted opening that employs a slot/circle combination. With a goal of maximizing recycling and minimizing waste, Little Rock recycling staff chose to make the single stream recycling container noticeably larger than the waste container. To reflect the city's recycling program education and outreach, Recycle Away placed both the city's recycling logo and city government logo on each recycling station. The recycling containers also incorporated the green and blue that are that city's colors. The result is a unique, eye catching, custom-designed recycling container. The new containers are big hit throughout the city government buildings.
As more communities move towards single-stream recycling, Recycle Away can provide specialized lids and decals to most efficiently collect mixed recyclables.

City of Las Vegas, Nevada
In March of 2012, the city of Las Vegas opened a brand new City Hall, a glassy, futuristic, solar-powered structure that celebrates the city's noted sunshine by day and illuminates its neon heritage by night. Recycle Away worked closely with the city to design recycling containers that harmonize with the interior décor and complement the beautiful architecture of the new structure. When the seven-story, $185 million building opened, Recycle Away's Metro recycling containers were featured throughout the facility. Incorporating the city's recycling program logo, and featuring custom powder-coated bodies and collars to match the interior color of the new City Hall, these attractive recycling containers showcase the city's commitment to the environment.

Town of Brattleboro, Vermont

Brattleboro, Vermont, is a quaint but vibrant town with a long history of progressive politics and environmental conservation. The downtown section of Main Street stretches just four blocks, but it is a bustling stretch. For many years, this area had metal slatted trash barrels every fifty feet, but no public recycling containers. Recycle Away worked closely with the Brattleboro Solid Waste Committee to design a new downtown recycling and waste bins. Based on the advice of Recycle Away, the town selected the Recycle Pro recycling container with its unique look and clear panel design that would differentiate the container from the existing waste containers, result in high recycling compliance, and minimize cross-contamination. Recycle Away took the lead in designing an eye-catching logo that was water-jet cut into the side of the recycling container. The new Brattleboro recycling containers look great, and even came out of the historic floods of August 2011 unscathed, despite being completed covered by flood waters.
